Flamborough Head with the oldest surviving lighthouse in England, originally built in 1669, but was never lit.
The current lighthouse was built in 1806 and acts as a waypoint for deep sea vessels and coastal traffic as well as marking the Flamborough Headland for vessels heading for the ports of Scarborough and Bridlington.
Plenty of parking (payable) and a lovely area for dog walking and bird watching. The views will not disappoint.
If you’re feeling fit and adventurous a trek down the hill to the North Landing Beach is a must. If you love geology, rock pools, caves and exploring it will certainly keep the kids amused. They will love it.
The walk back up the hill is a killer though, so be prepared for that!
All in all a lovely day out.
