Coastal erosion has always been an issue in Skipsea due to the soft clay and stony cliffs but in recent years the loss of land to the North Sea has been alarming.
As the sea continues to savage the coastline hundreds of homes are at risk. You only have to walk outside this Caravan Park and turn left to view the edge of the cliff to see this threat for yourself (please be careful).
Unfortunately for us this has also destroyed the paths down to the beach. Personally I won’t risk the make-shift path, I prefer to drive further along the coast to a safer way down. But if you feel fit and confident you can get down to the beach with care.
Of course the dogs love the freedom and it is beautiful, especially when it is deserted.
